I know, I know: duplicating an artist so soon into the life of this blog is a travesty. However, Google has informed me it's Shackleton's birthday, and there only seemed one logical song choice once I had that knowledge. The Weakerthans graced A Tune A Day's first entry with their live rendition of 'Gifts', and today they return with 'Our Retired Explorer'. For me, this is another wonderful example of John K. Samson's imagination. The song tells a fantastic story (that outlined in the title), and I love the references to landscape, as always.
