I'm well aware that the songs I'm posting here are already several years old. This is what happens when you don't listen to music radio, I guess. Still, 'Cannonball' is really very good.

141. Kinesis, 'Billboard Beauty' - a tune for 30.5.2011
Kinesis first emerged around 2002, and disbanded after a couple of albums. The first album's pretty good, with 'Billboard Beauty' one of the stand outs.

139. I'm From Barcelona, 'Headphones' - a tune for 28.5.2011
I'm from Barcelona are more than one person (there's loads of them, in fact), and aren't from Barcelona. Their lies don't stop me from liking them. I love the simplicity of 'Headphones'.
They can take me anywhere I want...

138. The Flaming Lips, 'She Don't Use Jelly' - a tune for 27.5.2011
This is yesterday's entry, coming a little late. Lyrically, it's nonsense. But I like it.

137. Willy Mason, 'We Can Be Strong' - a tune for 26.5.2011
I have no idea what prompted me to even remember Willy Mason's existence, but hearing this makes me feel forgetting him was inexcusable.
They can't sell me tomorrow...

136. Ben Lee, 'Catch My Disease' - a tune for 25.5.2011
This is the way I like it.
My head is a box filled with nothing...

135. Bob Dylan, 'Tangled Up In Blue' - a tune for 24.5.2011
Happy 70th, Bob Dylan.
We'll meet again someday on the avenue...

134. Sleeper, 'What Do I Do Now?' - a tune for 23.5.2011
I'm surprised I haven't posted this before. I know there's a lot of mid-90s stuff here already, but I really love Sleeper.

133. Half Man Half Biscuit, 'Mathematically Safe' - a tune for 22.5.2011
Given today's situation, this song seems appropriate.

132. Suzanne Vega, 'Luka' - a tune for 21.5.2011
Suzanne Vega's written some really powerful songs throughout her career, and this is perhaps the best known.

131. Coldplay, 'Brothers and Sisters' - a tune for 20.5.2011
Apparently, Coldplay are the retiring Shane Warne's favourite band. This is an early track of theirs I first heard on a Fierce Panda sampler CD.

130. Jimmy Eat World, 'Blister' - a tune for 19.5.2011
I'm really surprised that I haven't featured anything from Jimmy Eat World's 'Clarity' yet, given that it's quite possibly my favourite album.

129. Dave Henson, 'A Song for Yann Kermorgant' - a tune for 18.5.2011
This week saw the first anniversary of Leicester's penalty shoot out loss in the play offs, which spawned this fantastic song from Leicester fan Dave Henson. He's probably still in therapy because Holloway and DJ did go on to make the Premier League. Maybe I'll post 'Total Eclipse...' sometime in the future, but I'm not ready to do so yet.

128. Rilo Kiley, 'Portions For Foxes' - a tune for 17.5.2011
I'm finding Rilo Kiley perfect accompaniment for the work I'm doing today.

127. Lit, 'My Own Worst Enemy' - a tune for 16.5.2011
Not sure how I was reminded of this, perhaps it was writing 'LT' yesterday. Still a decent enough song though.

126. LT United, 'We Are The Winners' - a tune for 14.5.2011
It wouldn't be fair to let Eurovision slide by without acknowledging the winners.

125. Paul Harrington and Charlie McGettigan, 'Rock n Roll Kids' - a tune for 14.5.2011
I've decided to go for a Eurovision weekend, I'm afraid - here's Ireland's winning entry from 1994.

124. Ruffus, 'Eighties Coming Back' - a tune for 13.5.2011
Due to a problem with blogspot/blogger/whatever this site's called, I've lost entries 122 ('The Dark Is Rising' by Mercury Rev) and 123 ('Commerce, TX' by Ben Kweller). Apparently their deletion is only temporary, so I won't repeat them again just yet. For today's song, I've selected a Eurovision classic from 2003, with 'Eighties Coming Back' by Estonia's Ruffus. They apparently entered 'for a laugh', which I appreciate.
you thought that you had heard it all...

123. Ben Kweller, 'Commerce, TX' - a tune for 12.5.2011
Another artist I listened to a lot when at college, I thought about selecting one of Ben Kweller's newer recordings, but decided to stick with that I'm most familiar with.

122. Mercury Rev, 'The Dark Is Rising' - a tune for 11.5.2011
I wanted to go with a Mercury Rev track today, and after a little indecision I selected 'The Dark Is Rising'. It's a powerful song with some really touching lyrics.

120. Electric Light Orchestra, 'Mr Blue Sky' - a tune for 9.5.2011
It might be slightly cheesy, but Mr. Blue Sky can still make me smile.

116. Clint Mansell, 'Lux Æterna' - a tune for 5.5.2011
Originally composed for the magnificent 'Requiem for a Dream', 'Lux Æterna' is a track most people will be familiar with. It really is a masterpiece, and it's also the first instrumental piece to grace these pages.

115. The Smiths, 'Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want' - a tune for 4.5.2011
Often, I'm indifferent to The Smiths. I respect their obvious quality, sure, but I rarely choose to listen to them when I'm on my own. One song of theirs I always enjoy, however, is 'Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want'. Beautiful in its simplicity.

112. The Hussy's, 'We Expected' - a tune for 1.5.2011
The Hussy's were born of the same genius as The Supernaturals, James McColl. 'We Expected' was the first track of theirs I heard, and I still like the biting lyrics and bouncy popness.
