111. Terrorvision, 'III Wishes' - a tune for 30.4.2011

More than a decade on, and I'm still not sure if I like this track.  Still, it came into my head when typing '111' so I felt that justified its inclusion!

I'd have a flat in the city and a house in the sticks...

110. The Wedding Present, 'Why Are You Being So Reasonable Now?' - a tune for 29.4.2011

Given today's events, today's song could only be from The Wedding Present.

It seems I'm always last to know...

109. Guided By Voices, 'I Am A Scientist' - a tune for 28.4.2011

Today's song is 'I Am A Scientist' by the legendary Guided by Voices.  It's a classic, and I don't need to say anything more than that.

I seek to understand me...

108. Buffseeds, 'Sparkle Me' - a tune 27.4.2011

Buffseeds soundtracked much of my time at both college and university.  'Sparkle Me' is the opening song on their only album, 'The Picture Show', and I love the way it builds.

It's mad she had to go so far...

107. Sam Isaac, 'Sideways' - a tune for 26.4.2011

Random mode surprised me with 'Sideways' earlier.  I prefer the rawer version I have to this one, but it's still a decent song.

It never lasts...

106. dEUS, 'Hotellounge (Be The Death Of Me)' - a tune of 25.4.2011

I first heard 'Hotellounge' by veteran Belgian band dEUS after it was covered by Adem on 'Takes'.  I prefer Adem's version, to be honest, but I like how raw the original sounds, so here it is.

Is it so hard to keep the dream alive?

105. Blur, 'Lot 105' - a tune for 24.4.2011

I've bowed to peer pressure today, with Blur's 'Lot 105'.

Eighteen times a week, love...

104. Metronomy, 'The Look' - a tune for 23.4.2011

I really like Metronomy; this is their most recent effort, taken from 'The English Riveira'.

You're never running from this town...

101. Oasis, 'Don't Look Back In Anger' - a tune for 20.4.2011

Seeing as yesterday's entry featured the first album I owned, I felt today's should feature the first single.

All the things that you've seen will slowly fade away...

100. The Beatles, 'A Day In The Life' - a tune for 19.4.2011

I'll be honest, I'm proud of the fact that the first album I ever owned was 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'.  Given that this is the hundredth entry, I thought I'd pick a track from it as my tune for today.  I've gone with 'A Day In The Life', which is almost unanimously considered one of the greatest songs ever written.

I'd love to turn you on...

99. Nena, '99 Red Balloons' - a tune 18.4.2011

There was only one choice for today's song, with the only debate being whether to go for the English or German version.  I went with the English.

Set them free at the break of dawn...

97. Elbow, 'Powder Blue' - a tune for 16.4.2011

I'm going to be completely honest, I'm not fussed about Elbow.  I keep seeing their new effort advertised, so I figure they must be massive now.  The only album of theirs I own is 'Asleep In The Back', their 2001 debut, and it's not one I've listened to much at all.  Of the tracks on it, 'Powder Blue' is probably my favourite, so that's what I've chosen to post today.

In despair or incoherent, you're nothing that you seem...

95. Terris, 'Fabricated Lunacy' - a tune for 14.4.2011

Oddly, I recall once listening to Terris' album with a colleague in my lunch hour during weekend supermarket employment whilst I was at college.  I still really enjoy 'Fabricated Lunacy', along with a few other tracks on a very strong album.  Unfortunately, the music business was harsh to them and destroyed a great band.

I never should have started this...

94. Tsunami Bomb, 'A Lonely Chord' - a tune for 13.4.2011

My iPod kindly produced this while shuffling.

Like a character from a story, I don't exist...

93. Ween, 'What Deaner Was Talking About' - a tune for 11.4.2011

A friend recently reminded me of this song.  I think Deaner is one of the other band members, though I could be wrong.  I like it, even if some of the lyrics are a little odd.

All I have is nothing...

92. Ben Folds Five, 'Evaporated' - a tune for 11.4.2011

One of my favourite ever songs.

The things I really cared about just left along the way...

91. Semisonic, 'Closing Time' - a tune for 10.4.2011

EVERY NEW BEGINNING COMES FROM SOME OTHER BEGINNING'S END!

I hope you have found a friend...

89. Nada Surf, 'Popular' - a tune for 8.4.2011

All the lyrics to 'Popular', aside of the chorus, are taken from a 1964 book, 'Penny's Guide to Teenage Charm and Popularity', and I absolutely love the way that they're delivered, and the way the song builds.

I make football bets...

87. Johnny Nash, 'I Can See Clearly Now' - a tune for 6.4.2011

Not sure why this is in my head, but I thought I'd share it anyway.

Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind...

85. Thursday, 'Understanding In A Car Crash' - a tune for 4.4.2011

Thursday have got a new album out in a week or so.  I've not heard anything from it yet, but 'Understanding In A Car Crash', taken from 2001's 'Full Collapse', is probably still my favourite song of theirs.

We don't stand a chance in this threadbare time...

82. The Style Council, 'Walls Come Tumbling Down' - a tune for 1.4.2011

A friend of mine recently secured a job in Milton Keynes, but, unfortunately, there's not a decent version of The Style Council's 'Come To Milton Keynes' on YouTube.  Here's 'Walls Come Tumbling Down' instead.

Unity is powerful...
